GARRICK ARNOLD

ARTWORK
IN THE ARTIST'S WORDS
I began my professional art career as a Graphic Designer, Marketing Director, and Brand Builder. Seeking a creative outlet with the fewest limitations—one that allows for the purest, most distilled form of expression—led me to abstract expressionist painting. The works of Sam Francis, Pollock, Joan Mitchell, and many other contemporaries inspire me.

Music, literature, science, and our shared pop culture provide a rich palette of colors and imagery for my creative process. My technique is best described as controlled chaos or action painting, where the medium and moment guide the way. The freedom of expression in abstract painting and the lack of an editor remain thrilling and terrifying.

Art is not just a creative pursuit for me; it is a vital part of my mental well-being. Painting provides focus and purpose in my life, offering a much-needed sense of clarity in a chaotic world. This creative outlet helps stave off depression, grounding me in the present and channeling my emotions into something tangible and meaningful.

An avid reader and explorer of thoughts and ideas from Zen to Quantum Physics, these fields deeply influence my present work. Abstract expressionism allows me to translate the complexity of these concepts—and my inner world—onto the canvas, creating pieces that invite viewers into a dialogue of thought and emotion.
ABOUT GARRICK
Based in Portland, Oregon Garrick is an abstract expressionist painter. As both a life-long artist and entrepreneur, he has enjoyed many years of success as a graphic designer, art director, and brand builder.

Working primarily in acrylics, Garrick seeks to reveal through his paintings the intersectionality of reality, both real and perceived, and consciousness. His work is a collision of colors and explosive energies rushing outward to fill a previously empty void.
