ANDREW HASKINS
IN THE ARTIST'S WORDS
Being a swimmer and growing up by the beach, painting gives me a similar feeling. It is a happy place and provides an escape, taking me away from reality and worries.
As someone who experiences anxiety and depression, it gives me an opportunity to release emotion. It is a combination of anger management and meditation at once.
Painting feels like dreaming while awake. I fall into the process and I can’t predict what will appear on the canvas. I feel I can paint anything and nothing matters except what becomes of my creation.
Putting emotions on the canvas is both terrifying and freeing at the same time but I enjoy seeing people react to the work. And hopefully feeling an emotion out of something I created.
